I offer counseling for bipolar, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss to name a few of the issues that I have helped clients through. Clients who were dealing with many issues including trauma at work, family issues, addiction issues, and relationship issues with friends have gotten the results they were looking for during sessions with me.
Couples Counseling
Life was meant to be shared and we are richer for the company we keep. If something has gone off track in your relationship it needs to be worked through. Fresh perspective and a creative approach can sometimes help people work through a lot of hardship.
Professionals
Burnout and imposter syndrome are two of the issues that I see most in professionals. Imposter Syndrome is caused by a low self esteem that needs to be worked through and which doesn’t support the great person you’ve become. Burnout, well we all know what causes that as your “Get up and go has gone up and went.” But neither are terminal. You need a fresh approach and we’ll work through the issues and get you back on the road to your dreams.
Teens
You’re learning to drive and learning to thrive. As much as the road calls your name, you’ve still got some things holding you back. Working together we’ll break down what you can work around and work through and what skills still need to be learned before you hit the open road to the rest of your life.
Types of Therapy that I Utilize:
CBT is the number one evidenced based technique used in counseling. It stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - basically its based on the belief that if you change your thoughts, you’ll change your behavior. My personal theory is that CBT should stand for Choose a Better Thought but we can talk more about that in session.
EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing - another evidenced based practice which is utilized to help trauma survivors take the trauma out of the experience. By activating the brain we move the trauma from one part of the brain to a more sophisticated part of the brain so that the memories become less traumatic.
GIM - Guided Imagery and Music - Utilizing the process that Helen Bonny created in the 1970’s to guide you to your own answers, music and I help you access images that are stored in your subconscious - memories that you may not even know you have to help you answer some of your deepest questions.
Hypnotherapy - When clients have issues and feel they have the answers locked away in their subconscious sometime hypnotherapy is the process that we utilize to access those memories and unlock the insight that helps them heal and move through the issue.
Solution focused - My job is to get you treated as efficiently and effectively as possible. I have had clients come in expecting months of therapy to find that it only took an hour of deep questioning to resolve their issue.
Trauma Informed Client Centered - You are unique and you’ve come to therapy because you need caring, empathy and compassion. Utilizing interventions that are sensitive to the trauma you’ve been through and taking a humanistic approach, we will get to the heart of the issue and help you move through it.
